The Story of Master Blacksmith Paul Gilbert
A master of his trade, Paul Gilbert has an incredible knowledge about creating unique iron pieces. Recently he was crowned Reserve National Champion Blacksmith of the year after missing out by one point on first place.
Paul began powderham forge in 1994 and by year 2000 he had been awarded a diploma of merit by the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths.
As well as being awarded the diploma of merit, Paul has also won many other blacksmithing awards for the iron work he has created. Paul is highly recommended by the North Devon Conservation Society for a bespoke gate he created for Clovelly Court and in total Paul has received 25 awards from various different blacksmithing shows.
Paul has been commissioned by numerous bodies for a range of buildings, including Cathedrals, in which he has created railings for war memorials, as well as standard flag holders for the local regiment.
Devon blacksmith and wrought iron Specialists, Paul Gilbert Blacksmith FWCB, prides himself on the quality of his creative wrought iron work. Paul is a F.W.C.B Master Blacksmith, awarded by The Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths.
In 2020, Paul received a Silver Medal from the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths, entitling him to be a Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths as well as becoming an Eminent Master Blacksmith.

Award winning master artist blacksmith Paul Gilbert won National Champion Blacksmith 2017 of the year by The Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths, losing out on first place by only one point.
The competition saw Paul's work showcased across eight locations, including Devon. He has since been awarded Master Blacksmith, and he has recently worked on the Lord Mayor Treloar's Arch, which was shown at the Lord Mayor's show in November.
